Canal Icebreaker - Winter Cruising on a Canal Narrowboat
Winter is coming, and narrowboat Silver Fox turns canal icebreaker as winter cruising on a canal narrowboat gets underway. We depart from Hassall Green top lock after Shaun has a go on a potters wheel with hilarious results! We make our way down the Wheelock Flight of locks, part of the Cheshire Locks (or Heartbreak Hill), towards Wheelock where we moor up for the night. The next morning, after temperatures plunged to -6C, the canal is iced over! We set off towards Middlewich, cutting a noisy path through the ice. We check out the Sandbach Flashes, the salt mining history of Middlewich, and we moor in the noisiest place ever!
